2020 activity report

2020 Annual Autumn (167th) Meeting of The Japan Institute of Metals and Materials

On 9/15 (Tue) -18 (Fri) , Lab. members were participated in 2020 Annual Autumn (167th) Meeting of The Japan Institute of Metals and Materials.
It was held online to prevent infection with the COVID-19.

It was the first time to participate the online conference, however, it was able to successfully present our research results. 8 presentations (including 5 master's students) were presented, and in-depth discussions took place on the contents of the presentations during the conference.

6th Forum of Center for Advanced Materials Research and International Collaboration online (CAMRIC-FORUM6)

CAMRIC-FORUM6 and special lecture for master’s students were held online.

The 60th memorial meeting of Japan Copper and Brass Association

On 24th and 25th Oct., we participated in The 60th annual meeting of Japan Copper and Brass Association.
It was held online to prevent infection with the COVID-19.
Master's students made 3 presentations and in-depth discussions took place on the contents of the presentations during the conference.

Excellent Student Award of the Japan Copper and Brass Association

The 60th memorial meeting of Japan Copper and Brass Association held online on October 24th and 25th, Yuki Kosika presented "TEM observation of Ni-added 60/40 Cu-Zn alloy immediately after quenching and in the early stage of annealing" , Received the Excellent Student Award.

The 17th International Conference on Aluminum Alloys ICAA17

We participated in the 17th International Conference on Aluminum Alloys (ICAA17) from October 26th (Monday) to 29th (Thursday).
It was held online to prevent infection with the COVID-19.

The 139th Conference of Japan Institute of Light Metals

We participated in the 139th Conference of Japan Institute of Light Metals on 7th and 8th November.
It was held online to prevent infection with the COVID-19.

We made 13 presentations (including 10 master's students). Three presentations were made at the theme session "New Development of Research on Hydrogen Embrittlement Prevention of Aluminum Alloys".

Light Metal Excellent Poster Award

On 11/7 (Sat), 8 (Sun), at the The 139th Conference of Japan Institute of Light Metals, research collaborator Mr. Ryoma Arita from JFE Techno Research Co., Ltd. received the Excellent Poster Presentation Award.

Received the Light Metal Treatise Award

"Effect of Copper Addition on Precipitation Behavior near Grain Boundary in Al-Zn-Mg Alloy" was selected for the 2020 Light Metal Paper Award.

Akihiko Sakurai was awarded the Excellent Student Presentation Award at The Iron and Steel Institute of Japan Hokuriku Shinetsu Branch / The Japan Institute of Metals and Materials Hokuriku Shinetsu Branch 2020 Annual Joint meeting on December 5, 2020 with the presentation title of “Effect of atmospheric heat treatment on the microstructure of CrN-SiCN composite film”.

We participated in the 57th, 58th University of Toyama Materials Research Workshop on 4th February.
It was held online to prevent infection with the COVID-19.

the 71st Metal Microstructure Best Award

Received notification from the Japan Institute of Metals on December 7, 2020 that the 71st Metal Microstructure Best Award was awarded and published online on February 18, 2021.

The Japan Institute of Light Metals(JILM) Star of Hope Award

2 students (Masaki Amano and Kengo Takamoto) of our laboratory were received the Star of Hope Award in Reiwa 2nd from the Japan Institute of Light Metals.

Reiwa 2nd Degree conferral ceremony

On 23 March, Degree conferral ceremony was held.
16students were able to graduate and complete from our laboratory.
